PCBA Introduction To Working Principle

PCBA is the English printed Circuit Board +assembly abbreviation, that is, PCB empty board through the SMT, and then after the whole process of dip plug-ins, referred to as PCBA.

Assembling more than 5000 nodes is a concern for us as they are nearing the resource limits of our existing online testing (ICT, in circuit test) devices. We now manufacture about 800 different PCBA or "nodes". Of the 800 nodes, about 20 are in the 5000~6000 node range. However, this number is growing rapidly.

New development projects require more complex, larger PCBA and tighter packaging. These requirements challenge our ability to build and test these units. Further, larger boards with smaller components and higher nodes may continue. For example, a design for a circuit board diagram is now being drawn, with approximately 116,000 nodes, more than 5,100 components, and more than 37,800 solder joints requiring testing or confirmation. The unit also has BGA on top and bottom, and BGA is followed. Using a traditional needle bed to test this size and complexity of the board, the ICT approach is impossible.

In manufacturing processes, especially in testing, the increasing complexity and density of PCBA is not a new problem. Aware of the increase in the number of test needles in the ICT test fixture is not the direction to go, we begin to observe alternative circuit validation methods. Seeing the number of contactless probes per million, we found that in 5,000 of nodes, many of the errors found (less than 31) may have been due to probe contact problems rather than actual manufacturing defects (table i). So we set out to reduce the number of test needles, not to rise. Nevertheless, the quality of our manufacturing process is assessed throughout the PCBA. We decided to use traditional ICT and X-ray layering as a viable solution.

Line Design

The design of printed circuit board is based on electronic circuit diagram, which realizes the function required by the users of the circuit. PCB design mainly refers to the layout of the design, the need for internal electronic components, metal wire, through the hole and external connection of the distribution, electromagnetic protection, heat dissipation, crosstalk and other factors. Excellent circuit design can save production costs, to achieve good performance and thermal performance. Simple layout design can be achieved by hand, but complex circuit design generally need to rely on computer-aided design (CAD) implementation, and the famous software has Protel, OrCAD, PowerPCB, FREEPCB and so on.
